How to reverse an MP3 file

  1. Choose a file

Select your MP3 using Choose MP3 or audio file, or drop the file on this page. The file is decoded locally by your browser. Format support varies by browser, so an MP3 that fails to open in one browser may work in another.

  2. Compare the sound

Play Original and then Reversed. The tool reverses the order of the decoded audio samples. It does not change the pitch, remove vocals, or repair a damaged file. A short sound effect is a quick first test.

  3. Download MP3 or WAV

Select Download MP3 for a smaller file or Download WAV for uncompressed audio. MP3 is encoded in your browser at 192 kbps. WAV may be larger than the source MP3; keep enough space before working with a long file.

MP3 input and two output formats

An MP3 is a compressed source. The tool decodes it and reverses the audio samples. Choose MP3 for a smaller 192 kbps file, or WAV for uncompressed 16-bit PCM audio. The MP3 encoder loads when you request an MP3 download, so the first conversion can take a little longer.

You can also choose another browser-supported audio file, or a short MP4, MOV, or WebM video with sound. Video files are limited to 30 MB and 5 minutes, and the download contains audio only. For a fresh recording, use the microphone option here or the recording-focused page.

Common MP3 questions

Can I download a reversed MP3?

Yes. Choose Download MP3 after processing. You can also choose Download WAV.

Why will my MP3 not load?

The browser may be unable to decode that file, or the file may be damaged. Try a short MP3 or WAV in a current browser. The status message above shows a decoding error when the tool cannot read the source.

Does the MP3 upload to a server?

The audio processing happens in your browser. The tool does not upload the selected media to its server. See the privacy policy for site-level details.
